One of the first high schools to be built in Forsyth County in 40 years, Simon G. Atkins Academic & Technology High School, a technology magnet school, was also constructed under budget.
Atkins is distinct in that it was designed to essentially house three separate schools: biotechnology, computer technology, and pre-engineering, which provide focused learning environments. We worked with school system leaders to create a new prototype high school design as the basis for Atkins. The use of three separate two story classroom wings and a connecting corridor spine support student unity and collaboration between all schools at all levels. The use of natural light, color and technology throughout the school further enhance the student experience.
