This new school in Walkertown is designed to accommodate 1400 high school students, both in classroom and core support areas. The initial student population includes approximately 600 middle school students and approximately 800 high school students. Eventually, as the high school student population increases, the middle school students will transition to a new facility.
The master plan for this 99 acre site includes a High School, Middle School and Elementary School. The 61 acre portion of the campus dedicated to the high school includes two PE practice fields, baseball and softball fields, a football stadium seating 1450 home fans and 750 visitors, as well as a centrally-located press box, concession and restroom facility. Various sustainable principles were incorporated in the school design, including daylighting, access to exterior views, renewable materials, enhanced occupant fresh air quality, and energy-efficient mechanical equipment.
